Boswell Senior, Jalen Seals competed in his third trip to the UIL 5A State Track and Field Championships May 11-12, 2017 at the University of Texas in Austin, TX along with 103 teams from across the state.
Seals' first appearance at the state meet was as a sophomore in 2015 in the Triple Jump. He returned as a junior in the Long and Triple Jumps where he took silver in the Triple, winning gold in the Long Jump. This year, as a senior, Jalen again qualified for Triple and Long Jump. After breaking his own person record at Regionals jumping 51' 4" in the Triple Jump, he was looking to do it again at the State Championships. Ranked #1 in the Nation for Triple Jump, Seals handedly won gold in Triple Jump with a 50' 2.25" jump! He didn't clinch a state record, however, he is not short on accomplishments or awards! Additionally, Seals claimed silver in Long Jump with a 23' 9.75" jump.
Jalen will attend Baylor University in the Fall to continue his track career as a Baylor Bear.
