Spring Tennis - Thu, Apr. 6, 2017

The Boswell Pioneer Varsity Tennis team competed in the District 6-5A Tennis Tournament April 3-4, 2017 at Texas Christian University.

Boswell went in with high expectations, and did not disappoint! Day one started off with mixed doubles competition, Rocky Mclain and Isabel Orona enter the event as the #2 seed. They came out firing on all cylinders as they won their first two matches in straight sets. In the semi-finals, they faced a solid Aledo team. After splitting the first two sets, Boswell stormed back winning the third set to earn a spot in the finals. At the finals, the Pioneer duo faced the #1 seed in the tournament from Aledo.  Luck was not on their side as they fell to the Aledo team finishing 2nd in district for mixed doubles. This earned them a spot at the Region I Tennis Tournament representing Boswell at Texas Tech University on April 17-18, 2017.

The girls' double tandem, Miya Mendonsa and Rhiannon Mead, won their first round match in straight sets. They went on to win a deciding third set in the quarterfinals, defeating a strong Northwest team advancing them to the semi-finals. At the semi-finals, the girls faced the #2 seeded team in the tournament from Aledo. The outcome did not end in their favor, however, they played very well. Because of their performance throughout the day, they were allowed the opportunity to compete for 3rd place on Tuesday. As play began Tuesday, the nerves started to play a part in a competitive match earning the 4th in girls' doubles.

For boys' singles, Jordan Michael entered the event as the #2 seed. Jordan lived up to that placement, winning the first two matches in straight sets. In the Semi-finals, he faced the #3 seeded player from Aledo loosing a long three set match.  This put him in the 3rd place match on day two with and opportunity to earn a playback, pending all the cards fell in his favor. Michael won the 3rd place match in straight sets and then defeated the #1 seeded player in the playback to earn a 2nd place finish! Jordan moves on with the opportunity to represent Boswell at the Region I Tennis Tournament at Texas Tech University on April 17-18, 2017.
