Boswell Lady pioneers Varsity outlasted Chisholm Trail on Friday, April 22 after four lead changes, squeaking out a 5-3 win.
In the top of the first, the Lady Pioneers grabbed an early 2-0 lead. A triple from sophomore, Kelsy Paris scored Andrea Palomino, and Julie Kennedy gained an RBI plating Paris. Boswell maintained the lead, but continued to leave runners on base.
In the bottom of the third, Chisholm Trail answered, Trester hit a double to center field scoring White. The Rangers continued to put up runs in the fourth, scoring two runs on a throwing error by freshmen short stop Gracelyn Rosales. Going in to the top of the fifth, CTHS lead 3-2.
In the top of the seventh the Pioneers were down to their final three outs, and pinch hitter, freshmen Angelique Scivicque was called to the plate for her very first varsity at bat of the season. She lead off the inning with a triple to right field and then scored on Caleigh Spurgin's ground ball to third. Peyton Robinson, who was unstoppable all night, pushed across the winning run and Andrea Palomino put up insurance, scoring Robinson on a single to left field.
Julie Kennedy gave a stellar performance in the circle, and the camaraderie of her team and the "never die" attitude of the Pioneer's clinched this victory and third place in District 6-4A. On to the playoffs!
