The Lady Pioneer fall short to Grapevine in Bi-District playoff

The Lady Pioneers faced Grapevine in the Bi-District Playoff game at Saginaw High School on March 24th.  Boswell came out slightly nervous against a Grapevine team that was ranked high in the state, as to be expect being the first taste of the playoff for several of the girls. Grapevine scored first in the 8th minute of the game, off a cross from left to right. The team settled down a bit and the Lady Pioneer defense stiffened up. 
 
Grapevine had possession of the ball in the first half the majority of the time.  The Lady Pioneers began putting on the pressure, earning a Penalty Kick.  Unfortunately, it was stopped by an excellent save by the Grapevine goal keeper causing the half to finish 1-0.
 
The Lady Pioneers were able to move passed the deficit and press on for the second half. The speed of, Joclynn Carrillo, caused problems for the Grapevine defense.  Carrillo earned an corner kick in the 50th minute of the second half.  Maddie Korkmas sent the corner kick to the back post where Joslynn headed it back in to the middle of the box where.  Taylor Stohler scored off of a left footed volley tying the game at 1-1.
 
With a tied game, it was wide open and both teams play hard moving the ball from end to end. Goal keeper, Abby Williams, made 6 saves in the second half to keep the game tied until 15 minutes left in the game when grapevine scored a beautiful goal from 30 yards out upper ninety.
 
After that the Lady Pioneers rallied pushing more bodies forward to try and draw level again but with just minutes left in the game, Grapevine counter attacked and scored the 3rd and final goal.
 
The Lady Pioneers played one of the best games they played all year, but sadly they fell short with a final score of 3-1.
