Pioneers' starter Brittany Sharp doesn't need much run-support when she is on the rubber and she showed it on Friday at Pioneer Stadium against the Saginaw Rough Riders. Seven strong innings by Sharp carried BOS to a 2-0 victory over Saginaw in seven innings.
Sharp gave up only four hits and no walks, stifling the Riders' offense. The Pioneer took the lead in the third inning with a lead off single by Megan Rivers and a sacrifice bunt by Peyton Robinson. With Rivers on second, Andrea Palomino hit a double to the right-center fence, scoring Rivers. In the fourth, Kitana Rocha reached on an infield single and was plated by a sacrifice fly by Paige Horton.
Exceptional defense by the Pioneers kept Saginaw off the board in the fifth and sixth inning; with gutsy play by Andrea Palomino and tough pitching by Sharp. In a combined team effort, the Pioneers finished off Saginaw in style Friday night.
